FunDeck GS 188

T he ride is impressive on the FunDeck GS 188. The hull lifts high on its strakes and reaches plane in just under 2.5 seconds. It takes choppy water in easy stride, thanks to its modified V-bottom and board beam from bow to stern.

Its hull design provides just the right combination of "slide and stick" on the water to make retrieving skiers or any extreme maneuvers easy and exciting. The FunDeck 188 is a superb platform for entertaining. cruising, angling or sunning.

Seating is both comfortable and roomy all around. Underseat storage and a huge ski locker below deck will securely store water toys and acccssories when not in use. A cooler in the bow step is among the handiest we've seen for easy access. Swim platforms fore and aft can double for casting platfonns should the need to fish prevail.

We liked the fit and finish of this Hurricane deck boat. The engine compartment is unusually roomy and free of rough surfaces, Aluminum engine- mounting brackets ensure a sturdy connection between hull and power plant. That translates into a long life for this water-sports platform. The 5.0L Mercruiser in our test boat is ideal for this craft, handily balancing cost with value.

We wanted more time with this sporty rig, but so many boats, so few summer days. The FunDeck 188 should fit nicely in most garages andl trailer easily behind a mid-sized SUV mini-van.
