Talk about love at first sight. The first time we encountered this craft was at Godfrey's 1998 dealer meeting. It's a departure of sorts from previous Hurricanes, mostly because of its inclusion of a beautiful wraparound windshield. But for the most part it is vintage Godfrey with a number of refining touches. The 237 is a great performer, is well constructed and has a sporty visual appeal that makes that makes it a contender in nearly all our designated Shootout categories. As a family boat, however, it truly shines as one of the most promising new decks on the market.

The roomy cockpit is easy to negotiate and the windshield, while adding to cruising comfort, does little to hinder forward-aft foot traffic. Rail height runs about 2 1/2 feet throughout, allowing an easy view but still high enough for safe containment of passengers. (Speaking of containment, the enclosed port-side head on this thing is absolutely huge. Its molded fiberglass construction is one of the most accommodating, well-finished enclosures we've ever encountered.)
