| Talk about love at first sight. The first time we encountered this craft was at Godfrey's 1998 dealer meeting. It's a departure of sorts from previous Hurricanes, mostly because of its inclusion of a beautiful wraparound windshield. But for the most part it is vintage Godfrey with a number of refining touches. The 237 is a great performer, is well constructed and has a sporty visual appeal that makes that makes it a contender in nearly all our designated Shootout categories. As a family boat, however, it truly shines as one of the most promising new decks on the market.

| The roomy cockpit is easy to negotiate and the windshield, while adding to cruising comfort, does little to hinder forward-aft foot traffic. Rail height runs about 2 1/2 feet throughout, allowing an easy view but still high enough for safe containment of passengers. (Speaking of containment, the enclosed port-side head on this thing is absolutely huge. Its molded fiberglass construction is one of the most accommodating, well-finished enclosures we've ever encountered.) |
